Bindings and a new trick

Hopscotch Quilt

I discovered a great new trick this weekend for putting on bindings!  I’m not the best at mangaging a queen size quilt and queen size binding.  For some reason  I am always getting tangled up with the two while trying to sew the binding on.  On Pinterest, I saw bindings were wrapped around an empty spool of thread.  Although I don’t have any cute wooden spools…  I do have empty thread spools that would be perfect.  It also occurred to me that I could use my cone thread holder to hold the spool of binding so that it would stay in place.  It worked like a dream come true!

And to wrap up the weekend, I followed Sunni’s Hopscotch Quilt tute and had a great finish!  I love, love, love this quilt!  It will be included in a Boredom Buster Box for an auction this Thursday!  Wish me luck!

I’m almost done with the big handprint quilt.  I will be posting on that one next week!
